Complete List of Features and Benefits

The selection of Subcontractors is one of the key components to the success of every home building project in regards to quality and cost effectiveness. There are certain Subcontractors who would be classified as “critical subs.” Their work would include the main structure of the home such as the foundation and rough framing.  All of the beautiful finish work would be worthless if the structure wasn’t sound.  Here are a couple examples:

Every building needs to start with a strong foundation.  West Pointe Homes uses poured concrete wall foundations, which far exceed the minimum standards required by state codes.  The walls and footing use a series of reinforcement steel rods to unify and strengthen the foundation.  This is important in southeastern Wisconsin as there are a wide variety of soil types with different bearing capabilities.  These uneven stresses along with hydrostatic pressure can be extremely problematic for “code only” walls.

On top of that strong foundation needs to be a
framed structure which is sturdy and accurate.  For those reasons, West Pointe Homes utilizes a frame components manufacturer.  Rough framing done in a factory is far superior to conventional field framing.  Due to climate and assembly control, walls are straighter, framed openings are more square, glue sets at the correct temperature and rough lumber is protected from the elements.

Another important aspect of home building is the prevention of bulk water intrusion into the home.  Leaks are the number one complaint of homeowners and may lead to rot and mold.  To accomplish this prevention, West Pointe Homes utilizes a series of drainage plans from roof to foundation.  "Ice and Water Shield" is applied to the roof valleys and eaves.  "Tyvck" house wrap is applied to entire home (including unheated gables and garages).  Windows are wrapped with a weather resistant tape.  Caulking is done behind window nailing flanges as well as exterior siding.  "Hardi-Plank" is the siding of choice for West Pointe Homes.  It comes pre-primed and will not shrink or warp (which creates voids for water to enter).  Specifications for flashing of roof, siding and masonry are designed to keep water out.  The top of the foundation has "Super-R" insulation with built-in moisture protection and a bevel top for water shed.  The footings are surrounded by "Form-A-Drain" drain tile system which has a double-chamber and won't kink.  This system protects the home from top to bottom.

With these concepts as our guide, we compiled the West Points Homes, LLC Preferred Contractors List.  We have worked with most of these people for over a decade and have learned they are a proven commodity.  We continually inspect their work and their reputations are solid.
